Where are they?
BOXFORD geared-head Lathes 250IS, 280, 280IS, 280T, 289, 330IS, 330TR, STS 10.20, TF 10.20, TH 10.20, TR.11.30 330, TS 10.20 etc. Instruction & Maintenance Manual and a very clear Exploded Components Parts Manual with electrical schematics for 1-phase and 3-phase machines. Includes copies of several detailed advertising catalogues that give the full (and complex) specification of the various models. Myford ML7 Lathe – serial number K100428; Myford ML7-R lathe with screw cutting gearbox; Boxford CUD Mk II lathe; Warco BH600 lathe; Hobson H7 lathe with Myford quick change gearbox; Myford ML7 Lathe – serial number K3165; Cowells 90 lathe; Warco WM250 variable speed lathe; Minilor TR-1 lathe and FR1 milling attachment; Prazimat DLZ 180 x 450-1 lathe. The serial number should be just behind the two bolts which hold the leadscrew bracket in place. Earlier Boxford lathes had the motor mounted to the rear of the headstock. The model identification below can be used in the same way but with the motor mounted at the rear, the lathes name would be a Model A instead of AUD and Model B instead of.

627 forum posts 57 photos | Apologies for the silly question, but where would I find the serial number on my newly acquired Boxford lathe? I am fairly sure it's a model C - could be a CSB from what I can find on lathes.co.uk. I'll try and post a picture later to see if anyone has a better idea of the model. Thanks, Rob |

A feature of the CSB, compared to mainstream models, is that the belt drive from motor to countershaft is single speed rather than double, so losing the upper speed range. |

627 forum posts 57 photos | Thanks guys, just had a look with better lighting and there it was - when I was looking yesterday it was in a dark garage, and I didn't have my glasses on. C7912 which puts it at late '50s as far as I can tell. Some differences in the pulley guard and countershaft system to those shown on lathes.co.uk for a model C which was throwing me off a bit with the identification, but it may have had bits swapped about over its lifetime. Condition is scruffy, but I think basically good underneath. |
